Funs over! Get to work!

After taking most of the Christmas weekend off, C and I got back to work. C is busy building a Muppet-style puppet for a Capital Pontiac commercial that Global is producing. She'll operate the puppet when we shoot it against the green screen tomorrow.


Her budget is pretty tiny but at least it should cover the material costs. I hope.

Meanwhile, I've got the day off from Global. Since Boxing Day fell on Saturday we got today off. Woo-hoo! But that doesn't mean lounging around and playing Grand Theft Auto IV or LEGO Star Wars all day, no sir! I started on the rough animation for the Sask Power safety video yesterday and today I'm going to work on refining the art and then pass it off to C for colorization. It's 2D and mostly frame-by-frame drawings, old-school style. It certainly ain't Disney but it's ok. Besides the budget certainly ain't Disney so they'll get what they pay for. Ha ha! I had to dust off my Intro to Animation skills though. I've gotten pretty rusty.

Dog biscuit helmet

Yesterday C was rummaging through our hallway closet where we keep the dog food and dog treats. When she turned around she found Moxie with her head stuck in a Milkbone box! HA!

Just so you know we didn't shove the box onto her head and then grabbed the video camera. She shoved her head in there herself so you can stop dialing the Animal Rights Hotline!

However, once the box was on their heads, we weren't in a rush to take it off either. Hee hee!

Merry Christmas!

We had a great Christmas again. We cooked up a delicious lamb roast with potatoes au gratin and homemade sourdough bread from C's sourdough she's been growing. Oh man was it good!

C got me some great books for Christmas. Two books by Pixar --The Art of Wall-e and The Art of Up-- which are amazing! And a book called Directing the Story - Professional Storytelling and Storyboarding Techniques for Live Action and Animation by Francis Glebas which is really cool. I'm only on page 41 and I've already learned so much.

But the funniest part of Christmas Eve was opening the dogs' presents. C's sister, Sarah, always sends Moxie and Django funny, wacky presents and this year she sent them small plush toys --which they surprisingly haven't torn to shreds yet-- and reindeer antlers!

Anyway, C and I are going to go see the movie Sherlock Holmes tonight. She loves Robert Downey Jr. It should be a good flick.
