Meet the New Kitty

As most of you know, one of the things C and I really wanted to do once we got to Regina was get a couple of puppies. Well, we haven't quite gotten them yet. But one of the things we talked about was also getting a little kitten to grow up with them so they'll be well adjusted to cats and won't go tearing off after them when they're older.
Well, last weekend C and I went over to the Humane Society and adopted this little grey Russian Blue kitten. Whenever anyone picked her up she immediately started purring, and LOUDLY. So we named her Allis, after the antique tractor manufacturer back in the early 1900's, Allis-Chalmers.
Both C and I admit we did not consider ourselves "cat people" by any stretch of the imagination, but this little fur ball instantly won our hearts. The first few days all it wanted to do was sleep and cuddle and pur and sleep some more.
The sad thing was Allis caught an upper respiratory infection while she was at shelter, so after a couple days at home she started sneezing and having a hard time breathing. It got so bad last Sunday she could hardly sit up and her eyes were all watery and her little nose was blowing snot bubbles and there was even some blood when she sneezed. We were scared we were going to lose her. C called the vet and picked up some antibiotics for her. A few days after that she started to get her energy and her appetite back. We're happy to say she's just about 98% recovered now and is as frisky and playful as ever. Sometimes too frisky and playful.
One thing Allis loves to do is lay on the couch and watch college football. She's not too into baseball yet though. Maybe she's just waiting for it to get into the playoffs.

The next thing is to go get our puppy. C has been scouring the local papers and websites looking for Blue Heelers (aka Australian Cattle Dog). They aren't very common out here in the prairie but she did find a good looking litter out in Alberta. After cooresponding with the owners via email, C made arrangements to drive over and pick one up. So bright and early tomorrow morning, we're going to drive 5 or 6 hours to Alberta, play with the puppies for a bit, pick one and then drive home.
Of course, we'll be sure to take plenty of pictures during the trip.
Until then, from me and C and little fuzz ball Allis... adventure!

I, too, was in search of an object for my adoration and love, in the form of a feline companion. What's funny is I almost bought a little grey kitty that looked exactly like this. However, I realized that I'm not in the right place to have a cat, so therefore decided not to go pick him up. Now I'm jealous. I want to cuddle!
